How's it going?

I'm Jon, 20, a student at the University of Minnesota, majoring in political science and philosophy and minoring in leadership and sustainable studies.  What I want to do w/ all of that is a very good question…right now I can see at least a handful of different passions I want to pursue/am pursuing and that I am passionate about.

One passion of mine is education and learning, and so one “career” I'm exploring is becoming an educator of some kind.  Recently I've thought about how it would be really amazing to be apart of a group of people seeking to integrate meditation within a classroom setting (for which Maharishi University inspired me).  I believe very stongly that bringing meditation into a school setting would/does greatly enhance the learning experience of students and really helps individuals in using their entire brain and really utilizing it to its fullest potential.  And now that we have some hard scientific evidence backing up the benefits of meditation that people who meditates knows first-hand, I believe that bringing meditation into the classroom is the best thing a school can do to improve the academic performance of their students.

(this part is under construction…i.e. there is some work to be done on it and I am planning to do it…sometime :)
